Owner and manager of Pierro Estate, Dr Mike Peterkin, has a viticultural pedigree second to none. Besides making one of Margaret Rivers best Chardonnay’s, Mike also produced the first Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend in Australia.
Fermented in French barriques, the wine goes through a full malolactic fermentation which helps achieve superior texture, mouth feel and a more refined, persistent flavour. Lees are stirred fortnightly by hand in barrel over a period of 12 months.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a glistening green tinged outskirts and watery hue. Intense aromas of white peach, ripe nectarine and dried honey engulf the nostrils with some crème brulee, spicy nougat, roasted almond and gun flint notes also chiming in. Rich, mouth filling flavours of peach, nectarine and toasty dried honey flood the palate. Creamy textured, elements of crème brulee, roasted almonds, spicy nougat, biscuit and infusions of gun flint lead into an expansive and complex finish. A superb marriage of power and refinement with a long beautifully rounded aftertaste. Remains firmly entrenched in the top echelon of Australian Chardonnay.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

Reviews
Cooler season has resulted in this distinctly linear almost Burgundy-like expression of Margaret River Chardonnay. It's one of the tightest Pierro Chardonnays that I can recall, but I suspect it will age to reveal some of those beautiful vineyard qualities. Chalky minerality with a little butterscotch and savory notes turning the screws to tighten a focussed finish. Beautifully integrated palate.

Peach, melon, ripe lime, cashew and spice, a little fennel and vanilla perfume too. It’s glossy and smooth, a good cut of juicy citrus acidity, spicy biscuits, fine chalky texture, intense but kind of calm, with a flinty finish of impeccable length. Flavour and presence, and such a wonderful expression of full-flavoured Margaret River Chardonnay. Drink 2023-2029+

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
