Corsica

Corsica (Corse) is a large Mediterranean island and a unique territorial collectivity of France, known as the "Island of Beauty" for its dramatic mountains, beaches, and maquis scrubland, with French as the official language but Corsican (Corsu) also spoken. Part of France since 1769, its capital is Ajaccio (birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte) and it's divided into two departments, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud, offering stunning landscapes, rich history, and strong Italian-influenced culture.

Corsica, a French island with strong Italian roots, is a unique Mediterranean wine region known for indigenous grapes like Niellucciu (Sangiovese) and Vermentino, producing vibrant rosés, crisp whites, and fruity reds, often under the IGP Île de Beauté or specific AOCs like Patrimonio and Ajaccio. Its granite soils, sunny climate, and sea breezes create distinctive wines reflecting the island's "Isle of Beauty" character, blending tradition with modern viticulture, and are often enjoyed young and chilled.
