Veneto is a Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC, or controlled designation of origin) wine region in northeastern Italy.
With 20 recognised wine production zones, Veneto is home to some of the most famous names in Italian wine Soave, Prosecco, Bardolino, Valpolicella and Amarone della Valpolicella.
Veneto's mild to cool continental climate is influenced by nearby Lake Garda to the west and the Adriatic Sea to the east. Garganega, Vespaiolo, Pinot Bianco, Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara along with various international varieties are crafted into flavoursome wines, packed full of character by the region's best wineries.
The region is also home to the nation's biggest wine fair, VinItaly, held in Verona each spring.
