Tokaji Oremus

Tokaji Oremus

Legend has it that in 1650, the owner of the Oremus estate, fearing an attack by the Turks, delayed the harvest for a period of two months leading to an exceptional, intensely sweet wine some two centuries before the wines of Chateau D'Y'quem were made in Sauternes. Spanish superstar, Vega Sicilia, seeing the potential in the region, purchased the estate in 1993 and today, Tokaji Oremus comprises of some 115 hectares of prime vineyards in Tokaj-Hegyalja. Planted to traditional varieties such as Furmint, Hársevelü, Zeta and Muskat Lunel the range at Tokaji Oremusm from the dry Furmint to the incredible Aszu (meaning dried or shrunken in Hungarian) styles are some of the finest in the region.
