Alex Russell has been making wines since he was a teenager, starting his fermenting career at age 13 with a Coopers home brew pack. The stage was set. Alex studied Viticulture at La Trobe University and Wine Science at Charles Sturt and began working for household names such as Zilzie and Angove.

Most recently Alex is making wines in Pipers River North of Launceston in Tasmania, a cool climate region with a twist – longer sunshine hours than the mainland. Here the cool winds off Bass Strait keep temperatures moderate in the sunny vineyards, providing a long, reasonably cool growing season that ensures that the grapes retain their acidity as they ripen.

Son of a Bull wines are ‘live in the moment’ wines. Lively fresh and filled with energy, they are made to drink young, spontaneous and raring to go.
