Quinta do Vesuvio
Owned by the famous Symington family, this iconic Douro property can be traced all the way back to 1565 and is one of ports great estates with around 100 hectares of vineyards. Planted mainly to Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Barroca and Touriga Francesca the vineyards lie on terraces overlooking the famous River Duoro. The wine is bottled exclusively as a single quinta vintage Port, with quality maintained by strict selection; typically only 20-25% of Vesuvio's output goes into the wine each year. An extraordinary wine from an estate where quality and tradition overrides fad and fashion. A wine for the ages.
