Glaetzer is a name historically synonymous with the Barossa, but is now also famed for world-class Pinot Noir and Shiraz from Tasmania. Nick is a 6th generation vigneron who cut his teeth in the Barossa cellars of his family’s Glaetzer Wines before expanding his horizons by also working vintages in Margaret River, the Hunter, the Pfalz region of Germany, Burgundy and Languedoc. His global experiences gave Nick a love of pinot noir, finally drawing him to settle in Tasmania. In 2008, he set up Glaetzer-Dixon Family Winemakers, initially sharing winemaking facilities at Frogmore Creek and Moorilla before moving to a purpose-built urban cellar in a former ice factory on the edge of Hobart’s CBD.
