The History: A Legacy in Beaune

The estate’s roots are deeply intertwined with the history of the region:

• The Foundation: The Labet family has been prominent in Burgundy for generations. The domaine as it is known today was solidified by Pierre Labet, who curated an impressive collection of vineyards primarily located in and around Beaune.

• The New Era (2003): The modern identity of the winery was transformed when Pierre’s son, Francois Labet, took over the management. Francois is a visionary who shifted the estate toward organic farming and refined the winemaking style to prioritize transparency and "vibrancy" over heavy extraction.

• Double Prestige: Because the family also owns Château de la Tour, the Pierre Labet wines benefit from the same elite technical team and world-class cellar facilities, offering Grand Cru-level attention to detail at more accessible price points.

The Style & Philosophy

The "Labet Style" is often described as "luminous." The wines are approachable in their youth but possess the structural integrity to age beautifully.

• Organic Viticulture: The estate has been certified organic since the early 2000s. Francois believes in high-density planting and low yields to ensure concentrated, healthy fruit.

• Whole-Cluster Fermentation: A signature of the house is the use of whole-bunch fermentation (for the reds), which adds floral aromatics, spicy complexity, and a silky tannic structure.

• Minimal Intervention: Use of new oak is kept modest to ensure the unique "voice" of each vineyard—from the stony whites of Savigny-lès-Beaune to the muscular reds of Beaune Clos du Dessus des Marconnets—is never masked.
