The history of Ca’Matta dates back to Gianni Lonardi and his passion for growing grapes, cherries and olives. The legacy of Gianni continued after he passed away in 2007. Step up grandson Alessandro, to get started on modernising the infrastructure of the winery and in the old vineyards, situated in Marano di Valpolicella, in the heart of the Valpolicella region.

Alessandro proudly took meticulous care of the existing vines and went about converting the farming towards 100% Organic Certification in 2016. The vineyards are spread out over 5 individual plots to capture the regions best traits. The vines are highly trellised to allow even spread of air and prevent naturally occurring humidity from causing disease. The vineyards are all in spectacular shape and produce a minerally elegance in the wines.
