Bodega Castano
Bodegas Castaño was founded in the 1950s, initially providing fruit for other wineries before bottling under their own name in 1980. The estate is run by Ramón Castaño Santa and his three sons and comprises of 450 hectares of vineyard spread across four different sites with the DO Yecla. Though the estate has a selection of local and international varieties planted it specialises in the production of Monastrell and its wines have gained an excellent reputation for their high quality. Two wines in particular shine, the Castaño Hecula, a rich, spice-laden 100% Monastrell and the intensely flavoured Castaño Coleccion, a blend of 80% Monastrell and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
