Alicante Bouschet

Alicante Bouschet is a rare teinturier grape variety—meaning it has both red skin and red flesh—created in 1866 by Henri Bouschet by crossing Petit Bouschet and Grenache. Known for its intense, deep color and high yields, this grape thrives in warm Mediterranean climates and is frequently used for rich red wines or vibrant, fresh rosés with flavors of blackberry, plum, and spice.

Wine Style: It can produce full-bodied, high-alcohol reds that age well, but is also used for light, refreshing rosés with high acidity, often highlighting raspberry and herbaceous notes.

Note: Alicante Bouchet (or Bouschet) is commonly produced and classified as a Rosé, particularly in Australia.
