Viticulture

The marriage between Coonawarra soils and the noble Cabernet Sauvignon grape have long been known to produce wines of outstanding quality and longevity.
The 2021 Terra Rossa Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from eight individual blocks in from our Parker Estate ‘Abbey’ vineyard in Southern Coonawarra.
The unique microclimate within this part of the region produces an extended ripening period which tightens the tannin structure and increases the fruit density.

Winemaking

Following harvest in mid-April, the parcels were fermented for 9 to 14 days with approximately 10% of the parcels undergoing further maceration time to develop flavour and cellaring potential. After malolactic fermentation the wine was barrelled down to approximately 40% new French oak, for an average of 12 months maturation.

"Matured in French oak (40% new) for 12 months. There's good power here, good weight, with warm-hearted blackcurrant flavours as the drivers but with saltbush, garden mint and toasted cedar notes pushing through. It pushes ripeness without overstepping the mark to any serious degree, and it feels mouth-filling and confident throughout."

Reviews:

93 Points, Special Value, Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion

"For whatever reason, I seem to taste a lot of Cabernet from Margaret River and the Yarra Valley, but very little from Coonawarra. Good Cabernet here. All the good Coonawarra things on show. Blackcurrant, aniseed, lively perfume, appropriate cedar and baking spice oak. It delivers flavour, plenty of black and red fruit, mint and chocolate, a little tobacco, grainy tannin grip, a sweetness of fruit with savoury oak, acidity is a little juicy and tangy, but the finish is long and satisfying. It’s a very good wine, and gee, the price is more than fair."

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
