96 points - Jane Faulkner - Halliday Wine & 95 Pts Gary Walsh The Wine Front

“The Paringa has a reputation for being a powerful expression of pinot noir, no doubt about it, but sometimes, a vintage offers up this wine with comparatively more restraint and vibrancy thanks to acidity. Don’t think for a minute this is a wallflower, it’s rich and detailed, full of dark cherries, blood orange, amaro and a smoky, twiggy character. Full bodied with densely packed tannins a little raspy but detailed and juicy. I suspect this is going to cellar very well.”

The nose has an outstanding perfume. Red cherry and rose petal aromas mingle with hints of spice. One of the most striking features of this vintage is the fruit purity and delicacy. This is the very essence of Paringa pinot. Whilst it is elegant and restrained, it has power and length on the palate.

Vintage & Winery Notes

The name “The Paringa” denotes the single vineyard origin of this wine. Lindsay McCall planted the first vines on the Paringa Estate vineyard in 1985, with ten acres being under vine by 1990. From this site fruit of distinction is born from a combination of red volcanic (Ferrasol) soil, a north facing aspect and altitude of 146m on Paringa Road, Red Hill South. In creating this wine viticulture and winemaking practices are approached with the intent of preserving a pure expression of site from soil through to bottle.

In the winery berries were de-stemmed (100%) and fermented in large format oak foudres. Maturation took place over 11 months on lees in French Oak barrels (30% new).

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
