Two Interpretations. Superblend 802.A and Superblend 802.B represent two unique interpretations of the iconic Australian blend of cabernet sauvignon and shiraz, sourced from unique parcels destined for Penfolds flagships.

The Superblend 802.A components were aged separately in new American oak hogsheads for 22 months prior to being blended.

99 Points – Livets Goda Magazine

"The density of the wine’s color is like an impenetrable fortress… yet the wine moves in the glass consistently, step by step, with purpose. Cedar, cassis, plum, blackberry, tobacco, roasted coffee beans… the viscosity is delightful, a silky embrace of tannins… licorice and mint… a peppery spiciness… tomatoes, blood orange, and bitter orange… a grand and welcome wine in the Penfolds range."

98 Points – Tyson Stelzer

“Stature, power and might. The framework of cabernet in the presence of 100% new American oak hogsheads projects a 707‑esque presence, within which a one‑third inclusion of shiraz builds dramatic palate depth and intrigue. … A grand display of monumental fruit and a line and length that hark back to the glory days of Bin 60A and the ensuing legends of Penfolds cabernet shiraz. Superblend, A‑class indeed!”

97 Points – Andrew Caillard MW

“Deep Crimson. Beautiful wine with lifted blackcurrant, blackberry, mulberry, dark chocolate mocha aromas and herb garden/chinotto notes. Inky textured and richly concentrated wine with deep‑set cassis… plentiful fine‑grained, vigorous tannins… attractive mid‑palate viscosity and superb integrated mocha‑malt oak notes. Finishes firm and minerally with a lovely fine chocolaty plume. Harks back to the experimental age. Lovely classic Penfolds wine.”

96 Points – Josh Raynolds

“Inky ruby. A slow‑to‑open bouquet displays powerful dark berry, cherry‑cola, pipe tobacco and savory herb qualities… complemented by oak spice and coconut accents. Densely packed bitter cherry, mocha, black cardamom and fruitcake flavors show superb depth as well as energy… smokier on the strikingly long finish… extremely long and youthfully tannic. Made in all new American oak.”

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
