The 2010 Lake's Folly Chardonnay from Australia's Hunter Valley is considered a Good vintage by the winery, known for its complexity, minerality, and aging potential, showing notes of citrus, stone fruit, toasted nuts, and a creamy texture with bright acidity, often described as having a "buttered toast" and "flinty" profile, remaining fresh and complex even years after release.

Key Characteristics
Vintage: A "Good" vintage with some late rain, allowing vines to stay fresh, notes Lake's Folly.
  • Tasting Notes: Expect lemon confit, peach, citrus, hints of vanilla/oak, almond meal, flint, and earthy notes, with a textural, minerally, and fresh finish.
  • Style: A mid-weight, complex, and age-worthy Chardonnay, often with no malolactic fermentation, maintaining vibrancy.
  • Aging: Like many Lake's Folly Chardonnays, it's built to age well, with reviews showing it holding up strongly years later.

Reviews & When to Drink

  • CellarTracker: Users noted it still drinking well in 2020-2021, with notes of lemon curd, nectarine, and creamy texture, suggesting it was still in good shape.
  • General Consensus: A classic, age-worthy Hunter Chardonnay that's complex and enjoyable now or with further cellaring, praised for its structure and depth

Season – Good growing season; some late vintage rain.

Colour – Light gold.

Nose – Lifted, clean aromas of citrus and stone fruit.

Palate – Fine and beautifully integrated. Stone fruit characters mesh with a creamy textural mouth feel from its time spent on yeast lees in barrel. Wonderful balance and length of flavour, as are the hallmarks of this Chardonnay.

Alcohol – 13.5%

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
