Professional Reviews:
James Halliday – 97 Points:
"From ancient vines dating back to the 1860s, the 2008 Hill of Grace is a testament to craftsmanship and terroir. Despite the heat of the vintage, the wine maintains elegance, poise, and aromatic complexity. A graceful wine that will continue to evolve beautifully over decades."
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (Lisa Perrotti-Brown) – 96 Points:
"The 2008 Hill of Grace Shiraz is powerful yet composed, offering ripe blackberry, mulberry, and hints of smoked meat and exotic spice. The palate is full-bodied but polished, with incredible depth and finesse. A superb showing in a challenging vintage."
Region: Eden Valley, South Australia
Varietal: Shiraz
Alcohol: 14.5%
Cellaring: Now to 2035+
Tasting Note:
A deep garnet-purple hue opens the door to an elegant and expressive wine. On the nose, aromas of blackberry compote, blackcurrant, and dark plum interweave with savoury notes of black olive, dried herbs, and freshly cracked pepper. Subtle oak integration lends hints of cedar, clove, and mocha. The palate is richly layered and refined, showcasing velvety tannins, a seamless core of dark fruits, and earthy minerality. Balanced acidity and a long, persistent finish confirm its pedigree and cellaring potential.

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
