“Henley is named in honour of my Grandfather, who passed away at the ripe old age of 102. This wine is the best of the best of our McLaren Vale Shiraz and only 10 barrels of the vintage are set aside for Henley.” – Geoff Merrill
Aroma
The aroma is generous and inviting and very McLaren Vale with bright berry fruits marrying well with the toasty French oak.Palate
The palate is full flavoured yet shows restraint. Fine powerful tannins come forward as the ripe fruit flavours subside revealing the distinctive and elegant structure beneath.Vintage Information
Overall we regard 2005 as a very good vintage. Abundant winter rains ensured adequate soil moisture for the summer ripening period ahead. This meant very healthy vines with good canopies. The summer turned out to be reasonably mild, which meant optimal ripeness temperatures brought the harvest forward by about two weeks. Red wines from 2005 vintage typically show very good varietal characters with well balanced tannins and acid.Featured product

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
