Tasting Note:

One of the true pioneers of the Hunter Valley region, Max Lake and his family began Lake's Folly in 1963. Making only 2 wines and concentrating most on their iconic Cabernet blend, Lake's definitely take the laid back approach to winemaking. Utilising traditional methods like hand picking, gentle crushing and open top fermenters, the Lake's Folly Cabernet is a lovely hark back to an old Australian 'Claret' style. The 2004 comes from a dry, cool vintage, resulting in a wine of true elegance and style and is tipped to cellar for more than two decades.

• Season – Very good growing and vintage conditions. Dry harvest.
• Colour – Vibrant brick red.
• Nose – Displays cherry, violets and some mocha coffee aromas.
• Palate – Fantastic. Perfect balance and great fruit sweetness. A very classy, elegantly structured style that drinks so well even right now, but will age gracefully for up to 20 years.
