  • 95 ptsJames Suckling:

“Loads of cracked black pepper and green pepper character with some dried stem and black fruits. It’s full-bodied and tannin driven. Lots of cloves at the end, too. Drink now.” olivers-wines.com.au+15

  • 97 ptsWine Enthusiast (Christina Pickard):

“From vines more than 120 years old at the higher altitudes of the Eden Valley, this wine is gorgeously balanced and open right from the get go. The pure, brambly fruit swirls with notes of licorice, baking spice, cracked pepper, black olive and the pan scrapings of a roast. The cooler climes really show on the palate where pristine acidity lifts the fruit to tangy territory, giving a linear shape to the wine. The tannins are chalky, spicy and superbly integrated. This could age until 2050 at least.”

  • 93 ptsWine Spectator:
Noted aromas and flavours of toasted herb, chicory, green tea, tar, and loamy earth — with a classic Eden Valley savouriness Wine Spectator.

  • 97 ptsJeremy Oliver:
Also awarded a 97 points, suggesting long-term ageing potential through 2047

Overview

A very smoky and Northern Rhone style like Shiraz. Outstanding colour featuring a dense inky black core and a very deep dark red black hue. Pronounced black cherry and liquorice aromas have a smoky overlay with dried meats, black olive, scorched earth and peppered dried herbs also evident. Full bodied with a ripe meaty textural feel, rich black cherry, blackberry and liquorice fruits infused with charry oak are trailed by dried herb, scorched earth, some dried meat characters and spicy pepper. Ripe chewy tannins provide a muscular framework. Bright acidity on the finish with a long smoky pepper aftertaste.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
