The 2016 Capensis Western Cape South Africa Chardonnay is a remarkable wine, displaying a bright golden hue with subtle green reflections, indicative of its refinement. The nose is rich and complex, featuring aromas of ripe citrus fruits like lemon and orange blossom, along with stone fruits such as peach and apricot. These are complemented by hints of tropical pineapple, vanilla, and a touch of flint and toasted almond from the oak aging. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and luxurious, offering a creamy texture balanced by vibrant acidity. Flavors of juicy citrus, ripe peach, and tropical fruits are interwoven with nuances of vanilla, hazelnut, and a slight smokiness. The minerality, reflecting the diverse terroirs of the Western Cape, adds depth and complexity. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of citrus, stone fruit, and a subtle oak influence.
