Cabernet Sauvignon

Clare Valley
A dark garnet red of medium intensity with some development to the hue.
A polished wonder of red berry fruit, spice, cedar and lifted tobacco. Overall, very complex with many interwoven elements and layers.
A textural expression of the blended varieties with Cabernet Sauvignon most evident showing the luscious cassis version of blackcurrant along with subtle, nutty notes. The savoury complexity delivered by quality French oak marries seamlessly with concentrated, yet delicately presented fruit to deliver a wine of both charm and substance. The wine concludes its perfectly poised journey across the palate with impeccable length and persistence.
The growing season leading up to vintage 2014 saw average autumn & winter rainfalls and average temperatures. Whilst rainfall for spring was below average, vine vigour was good due to the levels of subsurface moisture. In early December there was a cool change & 16mm of rain fell. The rest of Dec and first half of Jan were dry & warm with no heatwaves due to regular cool changes. From mid-Jan to mid-Feb, hot conditions prevailed and harvest commenced early. A big downpour of rain mid-Feb bought the hot conditions to an end, changing to mild and cool. These conditions retained acid levels and slowed sugar development, crucially allowing time for the flavours to develop. The mild conditions continued through March, allowing ideal tannin & flavour development in the resultant wines.
Up to 20 years from vintage. If enjoyed in its youth, decanting is recommended.

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
