The Charles Joguet Clos de la Dioterie Chinon Rouge 2018 is a stunning representation of the Loire Valleys' terroir. A deep ruby red in colour, this wine exudes elegant aromas of ripe blackberries, cherries, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is complex and well-structured, with a silky texture and firm tannins. Notes of dark fruits, earthy undertones, and a touch of oak make for a harmonious and balanced experience. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a delightful impression of freshness and minerality. This vintage from Charles Joguet showcases their expertise in crafting exceptional wines that capture the essence of the land. Pair it with a hearty beef stew or a cheese platter for a truly enjoyable experience. This wine is a testament to the mastery of winemaking in France and is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Vinification

This is the last parcel to be harvested, as it faces north-east: we are looking for the most complete maturity possible for this old emblematic vine. At great sacrifice, we bring the concentrate of this vineyard to the neigh bouring cellar. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard, multiple treat ments during vatting, meticulous monitoring of the vinification process, assessment of the length of maceration: everything about this cuvée calls for caution if we want to obtain a result that lives up to its reputation. All the techniques developed for Clos du Chêne Vert are adapted to Clos de la Dioterie according to the requirements of each vintage. The maturing process is also carried out in the same way.

Region Notes

The Clos de la Dioterie is located right next to the winery, overlooking the Varennes du Grand Clos. This historic vineyard of just over two hectares is astonishing for the age of its vines (70 to 80 years old), but also for its highly calcareous clay soil and its north-east exposure, ideal for perfect ripening.

Cellaring Potential

The real complexity of this vintage from old vines is often only revealed after 5 or 6 years of cellaring, and it rarely reaches its peak before 10 years, sometimes much more.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
