Seamless plum and dark chocolate fruit, spicy French oak and fine tannins; very long palate and finish. 200 cases made. 32 months new French oak.
“Henley is a strict barrel selection of our best of vintage McLaren Vale Shiraz and is named in honour of my Grandfather, who passed away at the ripe old age of 102. This wine is the best of the best of our McLaren Vale Shiraz and only a maximum of 10 barrels of the vintage are set aside for Henley.” - Geoff Merrill
TASTING NOTES
The 1997 shows an abundance of cassis and vanillin oak with cigar box notes. The palate is rich and fruity showing liquorice and berry fruit characters and is elegantly structured with a rich full mid-palate and has a firm tannin structure. Great length of flavour and tight finish complete this excellent wine.

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
