Tasting Note:
Deep crimson in colour, with intense aromas of concentrated purple and blue fruits, cracked pepper, chocolate, menthol, and glossy oak. The richly textured palate is supported by powerful, youthful tannins with underlying warmth and oak presence—both expected to integrate beautifully with time.

Professional Reviews & Scores:

  • Wine Enthusiast (Christina Pickard) – 96 Points
“2019 was a vintage of quality over quantity. A deep crimson colour, it opens with heady aromas and a richly textured palate. A special occasion steak wine to hold until at least 2024 and then enjoy until 2042, at least.”

  • Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – 98 Points
Praised for its depth, balance, and richness. A powerful example of Barossa Shiraz with great ageing potential.

  • James Suckling – 98 Points
Described as complex and refined, with hallmark intensity and elegance drawn from old vines and long barrel ageing.

Producer Notes:
Crafted from ancient Barossa Valley Shiraz vines (98.5%) co-fermented with 1.5% Viognier, and matured for 30 months in French oak barriques. Inspired by the great wines of the Northern Rhône, RunRig delivers extraordinary fruit purity, structure, and longevity.

Torbreck 2019 RunRig Shiraz–Viognier is a flagship Barossa red made from old-vine Shiraz and a touch of Viognier. Awarded up to 98 points by leading critics, this wine offers layered dark fruit, spice, and chocolate-menthol notes with a powerful, textured palate. A true collector’s wine with a drinking window through the 2040s.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
