Rockford is a cult Barossa winery doing things the old-fashioned way, with a devoted clientele who love its dogged traditionalism. You need to go direct if you want to buy its wine.

The colour is medium to deep red with a faint trace of purple, the bouquet suggesting red licorice, aniseed and a trace of chocolate. In the mouth, it’s medium to full-bodied, approachable now, with just a light sprinkle of silky tannins. There’s lovely depth of fruit-sweet, spicy flavour and good persistence. At four years, it’s still bright and fresh, a fruit-driven wine that drinks well now and will keep several years. (Cork)

Drawing inspiration from the Rhone Valley in France, this is a fruity, savoury palated wine that shows ripe black berries and plums on the nose, together with hints of savouriness. The mouthfeel is full, dark fruited and talcy with plenty of fleshy berry flavours, evident tannins, licks of dark chocolate and meatiness, and a juicy, savoury-edged finish. If you like your wines juicy with a bit of muscle, this one's for you!

"Rockford can only be described as an icon, no matter how overused that word may be."  James Halliday

Rockford Basket Press Shiraz, like Penfolds Grange, is one of Australia’s most collected and most cherished red wines. Fruit is sourced from some of the best old Barossa vineyards with vine age from 60 to 130 years.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
