Mica-laced soil from the Schubert Vineyard in Roenfeldt Road, Marananga and fermented as 50% whole clusters. The site has six parts and all are made as a single parcel and then the wine is assembled. There’s distinctive complexity of fruit here with all shades of red, blue and purple through to black. There are also ripe dark peaches and nectarines as well. There’s a spicy edge, too, with some almost flinty, graphite notes. The palate has such intensity and power and really long, deep black fruit builds through the finish. Impeccable depth of tannin here. Rich blood plum flavors, intersected with blackberry. So saturated in flavor, so long and full of energy. The vinous intensity on the finish is spectacular. This is something really special. Try from 2024.
Mint, sage and thyme accent blackberry and black cherry fruit in the 2018 The Schubert Theorem Shiraz. Full-bodied and rich without being heavy, it finishes tremendously long, with silky, cocoa-powder-like tannins. It should drink well for a couple of decades. Drink 2021-2040.

Roennfeldt Road, Marananga. None more black.
It’s perhaps the most rugged and firm of the 2018 Standish releases, through I love it for that all the same. Lavish sticky, almost sandy open-weave tannin, saline, black cherries, a sage and mint perfume, plenty of crunch and energy, dried herb and black olive, roast beef, grip and length on a long cool finish. Feels ‘mineral’, savoury, and has a compact essence-like quality. No doubt it’s a beauty. Tightly packed and in need of cellaring. Drink 2023-2040+

Overview
This rich, statuesque Barossa Shiraz like all of the 2018 Standish wines possesses magnificent colour saturation. Totally pitch black at its core with an equally deep dark purple black hue. Spiralling out the glass with great force and intensity are intoxicating aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, liquorice and dark chocolate followed by vanillin oak, hints of earth, fennel and spice. Supremely rich and decadent yet firmly structured, lavish black cherry, blackberry and liquorice fruits are carried by toasted vanillin oak, dried herbs, shavings of dark chocolate, earthy mocha and spice. Densely textured with robust tannins providing a sturdy backbone. Outstanding power finishing slightly chewy and exceptionally long.

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
