93/100 Points - Antonio Galloni

"The 2000 Barolo Granbussia is the freshest of these 2000 Baroli from Aldo Conterno. Pretty floral notes meld into a generous core of fruit in this open, generous Granbussia. The 2000 should continue to drink well for another decade or so. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020." -  robert parker com (May 1, 2011)

Intense aromas of ripe fruit, sandalwood and perfume. Full-bodied, with lovely ripe fruit flavors and velvety tannins. Long, sweet fruit finish. Soft, layered and gorgeous.

Aldo Conterno

Located in Monforte d'Alba, Poderi Aldo Conterno is considered one of the finest producers in the region. The son of legendary producer Giacomo Conterno, Aldo formed his own estate in 1969 and was inspired by the modernist techniques of Angelo Gaja. Aldo sadly passed away in May 2012 and the estate is now run by his three sons, Franco, Stefano and Giacomo. They tend 25 hectares of vines including three cru vineyards on the famed Bussia slope in Monforte d'Alba. These three vineyard sites, Cicala, Colonello and Romirasco are the flagship wines from the estate though the entire range from the entry level Bussia Soprana is superb.

Poderi Aldo Conterno, nestled in Monforte d'Alba, stands as a beacon of excellence in winemaking. Established by Aldo Conterno in 1969, inspired by modernist techniques, this esteemed estate, now managed by his sons Franco, Stefano, and Giacomo following Aldo's passing in 2012, tends to 25 hectares of vines, including the prestigious Romirasco, Cicala, and Colonnelo vineyards on the revered Bussia slope. Granbussia, born from these esteemed vineyards, epitomises the essence of patience and precision, aged over thirty months in oak casks and refined for an additional six years. This Barolo Riserva, crafted from Nebbiolo, Michet, and Lampia, showcases the purest expression of Bussia's historical crus. Produced exclusively in exceptional years and in limited quantities, Granbussia reflects the unwavering commitment of Poderi Aldo Conterno to tradition, evolution, and the indomitable character of Nebbiolo grapes.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
