Toasty with plenty of bready complexity and powerful lemon and mixed nut flavour. Intense acidity and focus–strong and firm—then a long briny/mineral finish. Muscular but graceful. So much fizz packed into one bottle, though it’s still easy to drink. Terrific.

A tighter and firmer, dry Champagne with a compact, minerally palate. Lovely, fine and creamy bead. Soft and round mid-palate with lemon, lemon-curd and green-apple flavors. Fresh finish. Drink now.

An equal blend of chardonnay and pinot noir from Taittinger's top Grand Cru vineyards, with five years maturation on the yeast lees in bottle. Absolutely top Champagne with Taittinger's signature etherealness and purity. Fresh baguette crust with a hint of oyster shell-mineral and subtle citrus flavours.

A gleaming pale straw hue, the wine positively screams elegance and intensity. A seamless style, we have notes of quince, stone fruits, lemongrass, florals, honey and peaches. A note like roasted apricots. There are hints of raspberries to be seen here. A champagne which is all class and drinking majestically at the moment. Warmth and focus and their typical creamy texture, before a lingering crescendo of rich flavors, honeycomb, florals and berries. No reason at all that this won’t provide even more pleasure after six or ten years in the cellar.

This is brilliantly bouncy, sprightly and energetic champagne with delicately alluring initial impressions and a building intensity through a long finish. A 50/50 blend of chardonnay and pinot noir, all sourced from Grand Cru villages. Its vigorous bead sends up aromas of acacia and shortbread, grapefruit and white peach. The palate builds with toasted brioche and spices.

Tasting Notes

Palate

The entry onto the palate is clean and lively, dominated by very exceedingly fresh citrus notes. These segue into much fuller, rounder and silkier flavours where white peaches in syrup predominate. The finish is rich, lingering and bursting with flavour. Prelude Grands Crus is a joyous blend of finesse and complexity. its balance of freshness and aromatic expression is outstanding.

Aroma

The wine is subtle and fresh on the nose. The initial mineral aromas quickly give way to green and then floral notes with the fragrance of elderflowers and spicy cinnamon undertones.

Appearance

The brilliant body is pale yellow with silver highlights, a sign of the high proportion of exceptional Chardonnays. The bubbles are fine and form a persistent and delicately creamy ring of foam.

Vinification

Prelude Grands Crus Cuvée is composed of Chardonnay (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%) that Taittinger has selected exclusively from the top Grands Crus vineyards classified as ‚Äú100%‚Äù in the Champagne system. Produced only using first press wines, this rare blend offers the finesse and structure that a great wine needs if it to be laid down for any length of time. On the palate, this wine strikes the perfect balance of the instantly minerally Chardonnay and the strongly expressive Pinot Noir. Aged for more than five years in the cellar, the Prelude cuvée is unique for its remarkable youth and great wealth of flavours.

Grape Variety

50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir
