Professional Reviews

  • Campbell Mattinson – 97 Points
“Minty, long and lingering, bold-fruited but elegant. Red, blue and black-berried fruits run in a constant, irrepressible stream. The finish is so long, it has a beauty of its own.”

  • Huon Hooke – 99 Points
“Very deep, dense purple-red colour; the bouquet wonderfully clear. Traces of nutmeg, violet, lavender and rose. Extreme intensity of flavour, the concentration is other-worldly. A great wine.”

  • Tyson Stelzer – 99 Points
“The definitive Australian blend. Crunchy redcurrant and blackcurrant fruit framed by fine-grained, limestone-mineral tannins. One of the finest wines of the modern era of Penfolds.”

  • Ken Gargett – 99 Points
“A sumptuous wine, with immaculate balance, bright acidity, silky tannins, and an alluring finish. A complete wine that will provide immense pleasure for the next thirty years.”

Tasting Note

A deep, inky purple hue in the glass, this wine is powerful yet poised. The bouquet opens with savoury aromas—charcuterie, cracked black pepper, ironstone and terra rossa earth—layered with ripe blackberry, blueberry compote, violet, and hints of smoked spice. On the palate, it’s intensely flavoured yet graceful, with chewy, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity supporting a core of dark berry fruit, black olive, and spice. The finish is long, structured, and persistent, with exceptional balance and finesse.

A collector’s wine and a celebration of Penfolds’ 180-year legacy, the 2021 Bin 180 Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz is a masterful blend of elegance, structure, and richness. Crafted from old-vine Coonawarra fruit and matured in seasoned French oak, it showcases Penfolds’ signature power and refinement. With multiple near-perfect critic scores and superb ageing potential, this wine is an icon in the making.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
