2013 Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz
Est. range:
Private Sale- priced per LOT inc. GST (if applicable) and commission.
"Made from 101-year-old Eden Valley Shiraz vines, and coming from a biodynamically and organically farmed block this is a phenomenal vintage of Mount Edelstone... Henschke decided to release the 2012 and then the 2014 and then they went back to 2013 because it is blockier and more concentrated than the other two vintages. Heroic and with epic tannins this wine is an instant classic and it has tracked the style of the 2013 vintage perfectly. The nose is sensational with layers and layers of black fruit and liquorice spice. Serious and incredibly long and heroic I am hard pressed to think of a more exciting and imposing Mount Edelstone."
Matthew Jukes, 100 Best Australian Wines - 19/20 points
"The 61st vintage from these 101-year-old vines was long one of my favourite Mount Edelstones and it’s exciting to see it rereleased for a rousing encore from a pallet or two held back from this long-enduring season! Another six years in the Henschke cellars have slowly elevated is savoury, spicy and dark chocolate complexity, without diminishing its bountiful core of dark berry fruits of all kinds. Fine tannin confidence promises many more years of potential still. A glorious Mount Edelstone! Drink 2034 – 2049."
Tyson Stelzer - 97 points and Top 250 Australian Wines of 2024 (Tasted 2024)
"The 61st vintage, from 101yo ungrafted dry-grown vines, matured for 18 months in 81% French and 19% American hogsheads (34% new). The decision to hold back the release of this shiraz until after the '14 was correct - this is a densely packed wine destined for a long life as vertical tastings have proved again and again, intensity and focus achieved without apparent effort. Medium-bodied, but with compelling black fruits riding on the back of tannins and carefully measured oak. Price: $225.00; Alcohol: 14.5%. Drink by: 2043."

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
