Gold Medal – 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards

The Allingham is a selection from the best blocks of Chardonnay that grow on the south facing slopes of our Allingham vineyard in the Karridale sub region of Margaret River. Our skilled winemaking team draw inspiration from traditional winemaking methods and give the wine ample maturation in French oak to craft a layered, flavoursome and complex wine from this cool southern site.

Deeply and intensely aromatic, full of classic Chardonnay notes – citrus, fig, honeysuckle, fuzzy peach, nougat, brioche, vanilla pod and wet stone all melding and releasing. Predictably, the palate is a world of layers, flavours and textures. Pliable and full of stone fruits, citrus, pear drop essence, nutmeal, and lemon curd. A soft chalk like texture and gentle acidity allows the flavours to build and linger. Never a wine a extremes, the Allingham Chardonnay is always nuanced and full of subtleties, surprise and harmony.

There is an intrinsic harmony present in the 2023 Allingham Chardonnay which reflects a synergy of season, site and variety. The aromatic notes are wonderfully classic, an amalgam of white flower and citrus blossom, fresh picked grapefruit, white peach skin and sea spray. There is an extreme precision to the entry after which layers of nuanced flavours caress the palate, with both acidity and oak effortlessly subsumed into the structure. Over the next decade this wine will reveal the entire spectrum of subtle and generous impressions of citrus, stone and orchard fruits, mineral and oceanic tones and exotic spice accents that captivate lovers of Chardonnay; joy will be found in teasing them out and admiring the ease and refinement with which they are displayed.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
