93/100 Robert Parker

This is the 9th release of this wine, which has been matured for 2 years in American Oak. Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. The nose is perfumed, with aromas of vanilla, confectionary and spice. Mouth filling palate with vanilla, liquorice allsorts and mocha flavours evident. Very peppery back palate and aftertaste. A generous McLaren Vale red.

The 2005 Shiraz “Hillside” was aged for 28 months in mostly American oak. Deep purple in color, it has an enticing, expressive bouquet of smoke, bacon, game, and blueberry. Opulent on the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered, spicy, ripe, and mouth-filling. The tannins are well-concealed but should permit 5-7 years of evolution in the cellar. Drink this top-notch effort through 2025. The Kay Brothers Amery Winery and Vineyards was founded in 1890 and continues to be 100% owned by the Kay family. For wine tourists looking for an out of the ordinary visit, the winery is a veritable museum of how things were done back in the “ol’ days.”

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
