Four Star Winery Rating - Seventh Great Pinot Noir Classification 2014, Matthew Dukes & Tyson Stelzer

"Burn Cottage Vineyard's unique estate site is in Central Otago’s Cromwell Basin. First planted in 2002, biodynamic principles have been used since inception. All blocks in the 10-ha vineyard are classified according to soil type and exposure. Vines are predominantly Pinot Noir, with tiny parcels of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. The vineyard is part of a wider 28Ha farm, which includes highland cattle, sheep, bee-keeping and a small olive grove. Diverse habitats and shelter areas are planted around the blocks." - NZ Wine

"At Burn Cottage we believe in minimal intervention winemaking. Our task is to discover the genius of the site and of the individual vineyard blocks within and to allow the wines to reveal it. We believe in minimizing sulphur usage and avoiding all additives whenever possible. We avoid the use of cultured yeasts, bacteria, associated nutrient products and filters. We avoid racking whenever possible and do wine work according to lunar and celestial rhythms." - Burn Cottage

 Gourmet Traveller 95 points!

"The 2011 vintage of Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir marks the third release, and just as the 2010 was very different to the 2009, this is another interpretation again. What doesn't change and in fact seems to evolve and become even more convincing over time is the very real impression that this vineyard site and the winemaking that the BCV team input sees this edge closer and closer to words like 'ethereal'. Possibly a shade lighter in colour than the '10 the 2011 wine is at this stage and as you would expect tighter, less giving and more brooding than the Cashburn but never sacrificing finesse, elegance and delicate concentration. Decanted and allowed to evolve, layer after layer of complexities will emerge."

Gourmet Traveller 95 points!

2011 was generally a light vintage for Central Otago pinot. However, Burn Cottage has managed to produce a wine of charm and considerable finesse with underlying power and complexity. Seductive with purity and grace.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
